OUR IMPACT

In two years, we have touched the lives of almost 1,000 students and teachers, raising awareness about kindness and empathy in eight schools in New York City.

DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT...

WHAT OUR SURVEYS SAY...

♥ A comparison of our pre and post program evaluation surveys showed that across the board, students demonstrated a positive improvement in their feelings about kindness and empathy.

WHAT OUR TEACHERS SAY...

★ "I have noticed the students making better word choices when communicating with each other even when they are emotional (angry, sad, excited)."

★ "Every morning we begin the day with a compliment share, which has helped the students to develop thoughtful ways to compliment their peers."

★ "I think that the teachers are making an increased effort to model kindness and empathy for their students."

★ "Riley’s Way Program is another wonderful tool to help us celebrate and acknowledge the kindness of others."

★ "This program brings awareness not only to our students but also to our school community. Kindness is contagious and we all have a chance to be a part of it."

WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY...

♥ "Riley's Way is made to remember who she was and to be kind to everyone."

♥ “I’ve learned so much from my fellow YAC members, but truthfully I’ve learned so much (maybe more) from the little kids because they always try so hard to be kind and I’ve followed their lead on that!”

♥ “The YAC has really made me appreciate my friends and family who are kind to me and has taught me to be kind to others more often.”

WHAT THE COMMUNITY SAYS...

★ "If empathy and kindness aren’t emphasized at a young age, it is so much harder to learn as an adult. Our programs give resources to schools and students to help them learn these skills. We are working to make our children selfless in a “selfie” obsessed world."

★ "Our programs provide the opportunity to make a real difference. Kids are learning how to act and who they want to be. If you plant a seed in them as to what kindness represents, that seed can grow into an empathetic individual."

★ "The Foundation pays attention to the needs of schools, students, and teachers on an individual level ensuring that all parties have their voices heard, providing a flexibility that ensures that programming makes a tangible difference in the lives of those within the Riley’s Way Foundation community."
