Updates from SOS, Inc. for Youth Mental Health
September, 2021
SOS, Inc. is a youth-led national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, seeking to enable students to share and overcome their mental health struggles without pressures of outsiders. Through communication and connection, the goal of SOS is to connect with
every teen, regardless of their challenges or journey. We offer multiple programs, including Stages Of Support and Share Our Struggles meetings open to all. Our main focus recently has been further developing the SOS pen pals program, matching teens from across the country to connect on deeper levels by providing advice and a shoulder to lean on. Over the past month, SOS members have started incorporating the program into schools through mental health and volunteer clubs. SOS has progressed in our blog and social media, such as Instagram and TikTok, which are regularly updated to give additional support in a virtual and open-access format. Our first ever event was held in Kentucky on August 10th, 2021 to promote mental health awareness and start real-talk discussions concentrated on the importance and reality of mental disorders, especially in adolescence.
