Updates from Spread Your Sunshine

I am Addie Loerzel and I am so excited to tell you about my project called Spread Your Sunshine!
I started Spread Your Sunshine after meeting with the volunteer coordinator at Churches United for the Homeless. She told me that so many of the kids served miss out on fun activities because of their circumstances. Transportation is a huge barrier and kids can’t get to activities in the community. That’s when I decided that I would bring the fun activities to them.
Each month I host activities at Churches United and The Arbors. These activities include parties, arts and crafts, and sports.
Thanks to the grant received by Riley‘s Way, I have already started new activities at both locations. We have had summer celebrations and next week I will host birthday parties for all of the kids. The thing that I am most excited about is learning how to sustain my project after my funding is over from Riley‘s Way. I also look forward to meeting other young people who are changing the world and doing great things in their communities.
