The I3 Competition is a technological and entrepreneurial based competition with a focus on community connection. Students in high school are partnered with small businesses owned by people of color who have difficulty accessing capital and resources. Using design thinking skills, the students create a piece of digital infrastructure (mobile app, website, or social media campaign) for the businesses over a two-month working period. During this period, teams also check in with the impartial competition mentor for coaching on presentation and professional conduct. After launching the digital infrastructure, the teams collect data and present to a panel of judges.
