In January 2020, Teens Take Charge launched a new advocacy campaign addressing the massive disparities that segregated schooling creates in students’ access to internships, social and professional networks, and planning for college and their careers. Our message is simple: Until the city bears the political cost of integrating schools, it must pay up! We aim to develop civic leaders who shift the power in the New York City school system to the students. We envision an integrated, equitable school system that is directly informed and shaped by the students it serves.
